BLOOMINGTON Recognizing that cellphones are becoming almostindispensable for browsing the Internet, Pantagraph.com is unveilingnew improvements to its mobile news delivery and exclusive contenton its mobile applications.

You can download the Pantagraph iPhone or Android app for yoursmartphone by searching for "Pantagraph" in Apple's App Store or inthe Android Market. Both apps are free.

Besides top stories, breaking news, sports, opinion and video,the enhanced mobile app includes content specific to the app, suchas weather forecasts, news alerts, stock market information,shopping bargains and other information posted continuously from 6a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

"We're excited to be offering additional content to users onthese platforms," said online editor/webmaster Jamahl Epsicokhan."The shift toward mobile access of the Internet has been dramatic.It's reasonable to assume that soon most people's primary entrypoint for-many tasks will be through their phones."

The Pantagraph's mobile app initiative is part of a larger effortby Lee Enterprises, The Pantagraph's parent company, which recentlycompleted introducing new iPhone apps in all 53 of its newspapermarkets.

Joyce Dehli, Lee's vice president for news, said the apps alsoallow users to easily share stories, photos and videos with friendsby e-mail, Facebook or Twitter.

"Our ability to deliver mobile news meets a growing audiencedemand for immediacy and utility," Dehli said.

Mary Junck, Lee's chairwoman and chief executive officer, saidmobile audience and revenue growth are among Lee's top priorities.

"We reach a lion's share of audience in our markets - up to 85percent of all adults - and no competitor comes close," she said."By meeting the increasing demand for mobile news, information andadvertising around the clock, we intend to hold that marketleadership and build on it."
