NSW: Bushfires worst than last Christmas, says Carr

NSW Premier BOB CARR says Sydney is facing worse fire conditions than those duringlast Christmas and New Year.

With wind gusts of up to 80kph predicted in the area throughout today and tomorrow,Mr CARR says protecting property in the region is going to be challenging.

Mr CARR and Emergency Services Minister BOB DEBUS are visiting fire devastated areason the outskirts of Sydney.

Eighty aircraft have been deployed to deal with the emergency and two air cranes arehelping battle blazes in Glenorie and Sutherland.

Rural Fire Service Commissioner PHIL KOPERBERG has urged people to stay with theirhomes if they're in a fire prone area.
