NSW: Miner dies in Colliery roof collapse
A coal miner has died when the roof of a mineshaft collapsed near Wollongong last night.
Police and workcover authorities are investigating the death of the 42-year-old at
the Belambi West Colliery, near West Bulli.
The Tahmoor man died when the roof gave way in the mineshaft in which he and others
were working around 9.30pm (AEDT).
Police say the miners were about 6 km underground.
A 29-year-old man from Bulli suffered head, neck and chest injuries and was airlifted
to St George Hospital.
His condition is unknown.
