MADISON, WI -- The following information was released by the Wisconsin Democratic Party:

Republican Sean Duffy is leading the right-wing push to end what's left of the successful Recovery Act. In doing so, he's willing to cut tens of millions of dollars in his own district, for everything from veterans hospitals to public safety.

Under Duffy's proposal, more than $20 million in projects in Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District would be defunded, including:

$13,231,394 for a Department of Veterans Affairs skilled nursing facility in Chippewa Falls[1]

$4,680,738 to bring broadband internet to unserved rural areas[2]

$3,141,369 for the processing and delivery of cheese for The Emergency Food Assistance Program, which provides emergency nutritional supplements for the extremely needy[3]

More than $2 million to the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board for the Early Head Start program, which provides essential educational and developmental resources for pregnant women, infants and toddlers[4]

$66,000 to the Gilman Rural Fire Department for the purchase of a fire truck[5]

$1,154,000 to the Village of Stetsonville for water, sewer and waste systems improvements[6]

$1,829,000 in Highway Infrastructure improvement grants in Rusk County[7]

$1,366,000 in Highway Infrastructure improvement grants in Lincoln County[8]

"Hollywood Lumberjack Sean Duffy told us he was bringing his axe to Washington, D.C.," Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. "He didn't say he'd bring it down on medical facilities for ailing veterans, vital infrastructure improvements, public safety investments, emergency nutrition assistance programs and educational and developmental resources for pregnant women, infants and toddlers in the north woods."
