Oly: Olympics: Yao Ming leads China into Beijing
BEIJING, Aug 8 AFP - Basketball superstar Yao Ming led a 639-strong China squad into
the National Stadium in tonight's Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.
Yao, the star of the Houston Rockets, was the focal point of his country's team which
won wild applause from the 90,000-capacity crowd inside the stadium.
Fellow sporting legend Li Ning, a triple gold medallist in gymnastics at the 1984 Games
in Los Angeles, was to light the Olympic cauldron.
